Naveen Jain, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (Roorkee) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, industry leader Naveen Jain also graduated from the XLRI Jamshedpur School of Business and Human Resources with his Personnel Management and Industrial Relations post-graduate degree. In the consequent years, he would find himself one of the most prominent individuals in the information commerce and technology industries as an executive, entrepreneur and philanthropic leader.
Upon finishing school, he joined a string of venture companies out to be the next big thing, before finally joining Microsoft Corporation as a project manager and marketer in 1989. After seven years, Naveen Jain decided to establish his own company which was named InfoSpace in 1996. This Internet Directory Service provider became his main concern until he created information company Intelius Incorporated in 2003.
For his extraordinary vision and prowess, he has been twice awarded the prestigious Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year as well as secured the Albert Einstein Technology Medal. Naveen Jain has also been profiled with numerous lists such as Information Week’s “6 People Who Will Change the Net” and Red Herring’s “Top 20 Entrepreneurs.”
Giving back to his community, Naveen Jain has made it a point to be actively involved through his philanthropic pursuits. Among these notable institutions are Kindering Care, Treehouse, Bellevue Boys & Girls Club, Child Rights & You, and Peps, which focus on children welfare.
Through donations to Chaya, Indian American Education Foundation, Vedic Cultural Center, National Bureau of Asian Research, Seattle Art Museum and University of Washington, he has also worked to preserve art and culture for the next generations.
Other recipients of his benevolent support are community programs, research institutions and medical facilities Overlake Service League, IAFF Firefighters, Children’s Hospital and United Way.
Naveen Jain is presently the CEO of Intelius, a public records business. Bellevue, Washington-based Intellius provides a wide range of information services including reverse phone lookups and identity checks.
