Urban Legend # 1: My facial muscles could freeze!
There are 60 or so muscles underneath the skin of your face. These ordinarily perform harmoniously, however over time lines may start to appear. The overuse of BoTox can lead to the facial musculature becoming over relaxed. By and large doctors use comparatively small quantities to are calculated to make you appear ‘refreshed’, but still you will keep your facial expression.
By using a carefully calculated dosage of the preparation in exactly the right areas one should achieve a reduction in any fine lines and wrinkles without reducing facial expression.
Urban Legend # 2: BoTox is toxic!
This to a small extent is right. Botulinum Toxin Type A is the proper medical terminology. In large amounts it may relax muscles that you do not want loosened and even may cause sickness.
Pharmacists have a well-known saying that states ‘everything is poisonous - all depending on the dose’. A large dosage of any medicine can induce illness. If you drink too much water you will die.

Urban Legend # 3: It will sting!
The needles we use at Star Cosmetic Medicine have a diameter less than a human hair. Some individuals compare the injections to getting bit by mosquitoes. Definitely not painful compared to having a blood test.
Urban Legend # 4: I might lose sensation in my face!
Completely untrue. BoTox acts on the neuromuscular junction, not the nerves of sensation. Only the ability to relax muscles is affected by BoTox.
Urban Legend # 5. You can’t stop getting BoTox otherwise you may age faster than before!
Again this is just incorrect.
A treatment lasts about 3 months. Any injections after the first consultation should be effective for a few weeks longer. Eventually as muscle strength builds up again the lines will slowly re-emerge. However they will certainly be no worse than when you began.
Even should you never have BoTox treatments again - those lines will most likely be a little less pronounced than if you had never been treated. This is obviously because your facial muscles and skin have had a ‘wrinkle holiday’ for a few months.
