At some point, a lot of readers were unable to access the website for a couple of hours, particularly during the peak hours when the server experienced a huge demand for its resources which was aggravated by the DDOS attacks.

How to Find Interesting Books Online

How to find entertaining books on-line

Everybody recognises Amazon, the world?s biggest on-line bookshop, but there are a lot of different on-line bookstores, particularly if you are looking for books in different languages than English. Amazon has sound prices but so have other on-line volume shops and if you admit transportation costs it can often be less expensive to order your books locally.

The on-line bookshop deals all sorts of volumes, novels, fiction, nonfictional prose, and books on psychology and how to construct a internet site.

One domain which occupies me is clinical depression and anxiousness and how to manage with depression. I suffer from depressive disorder and have to take tablets every day to be able to live a normal life. Antidepressant Drugs have changed my life and depression enquiry is something I relish studying about.

My experiences in grappling with clinical depression have resulted in a web site where I write about my findings in meeting depression and the domain of antidepressants. The web site and my writing is also a good therapy and because I have a cheap webhost, there are very few disbursals in the project.

Books on depressive disorder and how to cope with depression, books on making websites and hot novels for the lasting gloomy winter evenings are seen on the net. In on-line bookstores it is smooth to compare prices, availability and other components which can help in the purchase.

A Quick Tip on Picking the Right Website Host

Choosing the right hosting for your website is not always a simple task. There are plenty of companies ready to give you everything you may need, but quality is something often overlooked. How do you find the best hosting service available to you? A good place to start is with a few reviews of the available services, applications, and the overall customer service that these products offer.

For example, when choosing a web hosting service, one of the first things to look at is bandwidth. You may need to take into consideration just how many other websites will be sharing your space, too. The hosting company may not be as upfront as you would like, or even if they are, it can be very difficult to determine how the hosting will work until you have invested in it.

For this reason, use reviews. Reviews from experts or reviews from other users help. Look at ix web hosting review to learn why this company is one of the best out there. Reviews can outline the customer service experience you’ll have, how well the website performs and much more. Reviews give you the power to make better decisions when selecting web hosting.

Sales From The Crypt

Posted by admin in House Of Websters

In today’s contemporary society, where everything can be done
already over the Net, online shopping is one lucrative activity
for the seller and convenience for the buyer.

This is where eBay comes in the limelight. Every online shoppers
and online traders can benefit a lot in eBay. But because of its
wide diversity, things being sold on eBay had increased to amore
wider, broader, and weirder.

Yes! With the wide access and convenience eBay gives to its
members, there were reports that even the weirdest things were
auctioned and even sold on eBay.

Here are some of them:

1. Ghost in a Jar

There was an actual report about an item, dubbed as a “ghost in
a jar”, being sold on eBay. The seller narrated in his item
description how he got the jars (there were two, actually). The
seller claimed that the remaining jar contains some “black
thing” based on what happened to the other jar after it fell to
the ground and emitted some sort of black smoke.

The auctioned placed 60 bids during the listing and had reached
$90 million. Though, there are no concrete reports as to whether
the sale was really closed or who got the item in that amount.

2. Vampire killing kit

This refers to a kit suitable for some “vampire hunters”. This
kit includes an ebony wood stake, a crossbow with four
silver-tipped arrows, a variety of surgical instruments, and a
large bottle of holy water.

3. UFO Detector

This is a modified magnetometer manufactured by a Brazilian
company. It was said on the auction that this item can actually
detect an approaching UFO or can spot an UFO activity.

4. Russian Test space Shuttle

It’s a spacecraft built by a Russian company. The actual reserve
price for this item is $2 million but was auctioned and bid on
eBay with only a small percentage from its actual selling price.

5. Serial Killer’s Fingernails

This refers to the fingernails of a certain Roy Norris who
sailed to Southern California, in 1979, for a killing binge that
murdered five people. He was with a certain Lawrence Bittaker.

These fingernails are placed at the back of a Christmas card
with Norris’ note, signature, and black thumbprint.

These are just a few of the weirdest things that a buyer can get
on eBay. In fact, there are thousand others lurking in eBay and
are waiting for some eager and gullible bidders.

How to Improve Website Performance

Posted by admin in House Of Websters

If you have a popular site, then you might notice some problems occur. Typically the site may slow down, you may have excessive bandwidth charges, and people start to complain that your site is taking too long to load. What can you do?

Image Review

The first step should be to review any images you have on your pages. Ensure that these are JPG or GIF format, and only as big as necessary in terms of their physical dimensions. Reduce image size by reducing the quality - for instance with JPGs even a quite compressed image will still be fine for the web.

You can probably quite comfortably half image sizes and without any big reduction in quality.

Flash and Animation

If you have Flash and animation on your site, or any chunky items being downloaded each time a page is hit, consider if you really need them - and if so, consider compacting and reducing the size of these elements.

Web site code

Check your code and ensure that it is efficiently and well written. If you have any comments in your code then take these out. Just reducing the code bloat of your site can save a few Kb each time your page is hit - and across tens of thousands of hits a day, that can save you a lot of money in bandwidth charges.

Introduce script timers

If you have a dynamic site or one that uses levels of scripting, benchmark your scripts and find which are the slowest and where the slow points are. You can then look for ways to optimise your code to ensure that these delays are minimised.

Page Cacheing

Depending on your site, it may be wise to think about more sophisticated elements such as whether you allow your pages to be cached or not for each visit - again this can help with download times and reduce server strain.

Web Design Tools - San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, Japan

Posted by admin in House Of Websters

Web designing entails use of a whole gamut of tools - for text, graphics, menus, animation, navigation design, color selection, font selection, authoring, programming and ecommerce development. The use of technologically advanced and effective tools ensure that the website attracts target audience and lists high in the search engines and directories.

Different tools are used in different aspects of web designing. Text links use HTML meta tags, graphic links use graphics along with navigation buttons, drop down menus use JavaScript and CGI among others, and special effects need tools such as Macromedia Flash and Adobe Photoshop. By far, Macromedia and Adobe Photoshop are the most commonly used tools in web design. Certain graphic designers also use Macromedia DreamWeaver. Flash helps in animation that if used well, can be an attractive feature in a website. Visual Basic is the most common language for scripting and SQL with other database engines are used for database management on the website. Templates are also used for the layout of a web page.

Apart from tools that make the site presentable and easily navigable, there are also content creation tools that help in creating Search Engine Optimized content. A word or a phrase, based on the worldwide searches is rated on tools such as Overture. Once the most popularly searched words in your industry are identified and short-listed, the content creators write content using these search words. This ensures that your website lists high in the search engines and directories. A combination of the right HTML text, background images, and graphic images with the right and most legible typefaces and fonts are required if the website has to be popular among your target audience.

Web promotion and ecommerce tools help in marketing your website. Pay-Per-Click Search Engine Promotion, Loyalty Programs, Email Campaigns and Online Games are some tools used for website promotion. Tools such as site statistics software and reporting from site searches let you know what exactly your visitors are looking for. The content and marketing strategies are then adjusted accordingly.

Apart from the tools, designing a good website also requires the skills and expertise of a range of professionals. A web site must essentially be written, programmed, and designed for the end users. A site that is written, coded and designed for user friendliness and search engine visibility gets the most traffic and results in boosting sales. Again, understanding the products, services or information that your target audience is looking for is important in the design, maintenance and re-design of your website.
